Jay grew up just outside of Boston, in Malden, MA. He graduated from Emerson College in 2008 with a BS in Marketing Communication and minor in Hearing and Deafness Studies. While a student at Emerson, Jay was involved in several student service organizations and was a Chair of New Student Orientation. After graduation Jay served as an Admission Counselor before joining AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) in 2009 as a Corps Member at the Atlantic Region campus in Perry Point, MD. During his Corps Member year Jay was voted by his peers and staff the Leadership and Humanitarian awards. Jay served a second year as a Team Leader in NCCC where he helped pilot a “Summer of Service” program with at-risk youth from Baltimore. After NCCC, Jay worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay as a Youth / Volunteer Enrollment Match Coordinator. He also has been a mentor to his 16 year-old Little Brother Nathan in Boston for nearly 9 years. He believes strongly in the impact of mentoring and is beyond excited to be working with DREAM.
In his free time, Jay enjoys cooking, nature, writing, comedy and improv, watching movies and reading (especially science fiction), and always laughing. His favorite food is baked ziti, and any type of Italian dish.
