Julia is the Program Empowerment Director for the DREAM Programs at Champlain College, Saint Michael’s College, and Johnson State College serving as an Americorps VISTA through Vermont Youth Tomorrow. Originally from a suburb of Boston, Julia is a recent graduate of the University of Vermont, where she studied Sociology, Anthropology, and Mathematics. Julia first came to DREAM during the summer after her third year at UVM as a Summer Programming Intern. Since then, she has stayed involved with DREAM, acting as a Program Partner for the Champlain College DREAM Program, Office Development Intern, and again as a Summer Community Intern. Along with her involvement in DREAM, Julia was able to explore her interest in criminal justice while at UVM and was involved in several research and volunteer projects revolving around the Vermont Department of Corrections, including her own Honors Thesis, “Parents in Prison: An Examination of Parental Incarceration in The State of Vermont.” Julia is passionate about providing all youth with the opportunities and support they need to succeed as adults. When she is not working, Julia can be found hiking, exploring new areas of Vermont, and spending time with her horse, Hershey.
