After obtaining her degree in Marketing/ Management and Leadership from Boston College in 2014, Shavel’le realized her passion had shifted from Business to community development and community engagement in Boston neighborhoods. This passion started after joining the Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition back in 2006. This community coalition focused on the needs and wants of the community and communicate/advocate for those needs and wants. Spending 5 years with this coalition she learned how to tailor events towards what the community wants, met with lots of authority figures, and started to express the need for biking awareness in the Mattapan area by coordinating an event called Mattapan on Wheels. Wanting to learn more about what other communities are going through and what she can do to help, it was then that Shavel’le joined the DREAM team. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her twin, Shanel’le, and read. One interesting fact is that she has a small fear of revolving doors and escalators.
